§ SnoreTracker · privacy policy

Your night stays
on your phone.

This policy covers the SnoreTracker iPhone app, published by Freddylabs LLC. The freddylabs.com website has its own short privacy notice.

Effective 6 September 2026 · applies to SnoreTracker 1.1 and later

In short

SnoreTracker does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no network access of its own. Your recordings, scores, answers and settings stay on your iPhone, and the only way anything leaves it is when you share it yourself.

1. Who we are

SnoreTracker is developed and published by Freddylabs LLC ("Freddy Labs", "we"). You can reach us at freddy@freddylabs.com. We are the data controller for anything described in this policy, which, as you will see, is very little.

2. What we collect: nothing

SnoreTracker is designed to work with the phone in flight mode. The app makes no network requests: it has no account system, no sign-in, no cloud sync, no analytics or crash-reporting library, no advertising, and no third-party software development kits of any kind. We do not receive your recordings, your scores, your Apple Health data, your questionnaire answers or your notes, and we have no way to obtain them.

Everything the app does with data happens on your iPhone, inside the app's own private storage, and is described in the sections below so you know exactly what is there.

3. Microphone

The app asks for microphone permission the first time you start a recording. While a recording is running, it uses the microphone to do three things with the audio, all on the phone:

  • Measure loudness, so the night can be drawn as a timeline and used for scoring.
  • Classify snoring with Apple's built-in, on-device sound classifier. No audio is sent anywhere for this; the model ships with iOS.
  • Write the audio to a compressed file in the app's private storage, so you can listen back to any moment of the night.

Recording runs only while you have started it and stops when you tap Stop & Save. It continues with the screen locked, which is why iOS shows the microphone indicator during the night. You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone; the app will then be unable to record.

4. Data stored on your phone

All of the following lives in the app's sandboxed container on your iPhone and nowhere else:

  • Audio recordings of each night (about 150–200 MB for eight hours), plus a cached loudness contour used by breathing analysis.
  • Per-night data: start and end times, loudness samples, detected snore episodes, the Snore Score, breathing-pause analysis results, and any trims or re-labels you make.
  • Things you type or tap: morning mood, tags, free-text notes, the optional "Prepared for" name on a Clinician Report, and your settings (bedtime, sensitivity, minimum pause length).
  • STOP-BANG answers, if you complete the questionnaire. They are yours: no answer is derived from recordings or Apple Health, and the BMI and neck helpers only do arithmetic on numbers you enter.
  • Apple Health context imported for a night, if you have connected Apple Health (see the next section).

Free-text notes are never printed in the Clinician Report and never leave the app unless you export a CSV yourself.

5. Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional and off until you turn it on in onboarding or in Settings → Health. When enabled, SnoreTracker uses Apple's HealthKit framework on the phone only. It requests the following categories:

DirectionCategoryWhy
WritesSleep Analysis (In Bed)Each finished night is saved to Health as one in-bed sleep record, so your Health sleep history includes SnoreTracker nights. Deleting a night in SnoreTracker also removes the record the app wrote; the app can only ever delete its own samples.
ReadsSleep AnalysisSleep stages recorded by other sources during the night (typically an Apple Watch), shown alongside the night.
ReadsHeart RateAverage, minimum and maximum during the night.
ReadsResting Heart RateContext for the night's heart-rate figures.
ReadsHeart Rate Variability (SDNN)Average during the night.
ReadsRespiratory RateAverage during the night.
ReadsBlood Oxygen (Oxygen Saturation)Average and minimum during the night.
ReadsStepsTotal for the day leading into the night.
ReadsActive EnergyTotal for the day leading into the night.
ReadsApple Exercise TimeExercise minutes for the day leading into the night.
ReadsWorkoutsType and duration of workouts logged that day.

The imported values are stored with the night on your phone and used for one purpose: to show a night's context and to compute observations in the Stats tab, for example how you score after exercise days. All of this is computed on the device. Observations are correlations in your own data, not medical conclusions.

We never use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sell it, and never disclose it to any third party. It is not uploaded anywhere by SnoreTracker. Health data appears in the Clinician Report only when you build that report yourself, and there it is labelled as Apple Health data, not as a reading by SnoreTracker.

You can change or revoke SnoreTracker's Health access at any time in the Health app (your profile → Apps → SnoreTracker) or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. Revoking access stops further imports and exports; data already stored with a night stays on your phone until you delete the night.

6. Things you choose to share

Data leaves the app only through the iOS share sheet, only when you tap share or export, and only to the destination you pick (AirDrop, Mail, Files, print, or another app). What you can share:

  • A night's audio file.
  • An image of a night's summary.
  • A CSV of all nights with score, snoring, episodes, mood, tags, breathing pauses and Apple Health context.
  • The five-page Clinician Report PDF, rendered on the phone from local data. The app keeps no copy of it.

Once you have shared something, it is in the hands of the recipient and outside the scope of this policy. If you share with a clinic or a doctor, their own privacy practices apply.

7. Backups

Audio recordings are excluded from iCloud and computer backups, because a month of nights is several gigabytes. This means a backup cannot restore your recordings, and deleting the app deletes them permanently.

The rest of the app's data (night metadata, scores, tags, notes, settings, STOP-BANG answers and imported Health context) is part of the app's container and is included in your normal device backups, like any other app's data, under the encryption and settings you have chosen for iCloud Backup or a computer backup. Those backups are handled by Apple and your device, not by us.

8. Deleting your data

  • Delete a night from its night screen. This removes its audio, cached analysis, score and per-night data, and removes the in-bed record SnoreTracker wrote to Apple Health for that night.
  • Delete the app to remove everything at once. Because recordings are excluded from backups, this cannot be undone.
  • Revoke permissions for the microphone or Apple Health in iOS Settings at any time.

There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because we hold none of your data. If you have shared a file with someone, ask them to delete it.

9. Third parties and Apple

SnoreTracker contains no third-party code and talks to no third-party service. It uses Apple's frameworks that run on the device: AVFoundation for recording, SoundAnalysis for on-device snore classification, HealthKit for Apple Health, SwiftData for local storage, and UIKit and Core Graphics to render the Clinician Report PDF.

If you install SnoreTracker through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple may collect crash logs and usage statistics from your device according to your iOS analytics settings and Apple's privacy policy. Depending on those settings, Apple may share aggregated crash reports and usage statistics with us through App Store Connect. That information does not contain your recordings, your Health data or any account identity, because the app has none.

10. Children

SnoreTracker is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and because it collects no personal data, it knowingly collects none from anyone.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal data that an organisation holds about you. Freddy Labs holds no personal data from SnoreTracker, so there is nothing for us to provide or delete. For the data on your phone, the app itself gives you the tools: export via CSV or the share sheet, and deletion per night or by removing the app. If you have questions about any of this, email us and a person will answer.

12. Changes to this policy

If SnoreTracker ever changes how it handles data, for example by adding an optional sync feature, this policy will be updated first, the effective date at the top will change, and the app's release notes will say so. Any such feature would be opt-in, and audio would stay on the phone.
